About Dr. Joseph Tse

Dr. Joseph Tse is an English- and Chinese-speaking Registered Psychologist in Vancouver, BC. He received his doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Washington State University (American Psychological Association accredited) after completing the Edmonton Consortium Clinical Psychology Residency Program (Canadian Psychological Association accredited internship). Being an immigrant himself, Dr. Tse highly values diversity and multiculturalism. As part of his doctoral training, he focused his clinical research on ethnic and sexual minority groups. He also has strong interests in health psychology and mindfulness studies.

Dr. Tse enjoys working with adults on a variety of psychological concerns, such as anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, chronic pain, chronic diseases, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties, and more. Dr. Tse also appreciates the opportunities to work with clients with different ethnic backgrounds. He is pleased to offer psychological services in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Regarding the therapeutic working style, Dr. Tse adopts the integrative approach in his therapy because it allows him the flexibility to understand and meet the needs of unique individuals with diverse backgrounds and histories. Dr. Tse draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness-based interventions. More importantly, he believes in a collaborative approach when working with clients. Trust and respect are essential components in his therapy.

Outside work, Dr. Tse is passionate about travelling, exploring the beauty and uniqueness of different countries and cultures in the world. He is also a foodie and enjoys cooking and sharing a good meal with families and friends.
